The Poached Pear was such a delight. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate- freshly set up for the holiday season and the staff was warm and accommodating.
Everything on the menu sounded wonderful, but we chose the garlic shrimp, crab cake appetizer, the chicken and the NY strip steak. We were definitely impressed with the portion sizes, which gave us a second small meal the next night, as well. I could have bathed in the sauce that the shrimp were drenched in. The crab cake was huge and hearty. I appreciated the chicken on the bone. It was very tender. Our only critique would be that the chicken needed a sauce on top of it to make it a little more juicy. Lastly, the steak was to die for. It was rubbed in espresso and cooked to perfection. The mushroom risotto that the steak laid on top of was my favorite part of the whole meal. The texture and the flavor were there and it complemented the meat perfectly.
For dessert, we had their bread pudding. It came to the table hot and melted right in our mouths.
We now know why this place is always booked up on the weekends. We would love to return at some point in the future.
